Chess: Aronian building up lead at Tata Steel

levon_aronyan_0 ArmeniaNow -- Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian has widened his lead at the Tata Steel tournament in the Netherlands after scoring yet another victory on Wednesday.

Aronian scored his latest win – his six in 10 games in Wijk aan Zee – against Dutch grandmaster Anish Giri. Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, Aronian’s main rival, tied with Hikaru Nakamura from the United States.

With 7 ½ points Aronian continues to leads the 14-man Group A standings, with Carlsen falling behind with 6 points.

Three rounds remain before the end of the tournament. In Round 11 scheduled for Friday Aronian plays David Navara representing the Czech Republic.
