AHTCA
Sends Delegation to Diaspora Conference in Yerevan May 23-29
Several
members of the leadership of the Armenian High Tech Council of America
are traveling to Armenia from May 23-29 to participate in the Armenian
Diaspora Conference. Council members are participating in the Information
and Media and Economic and Social Decelopment tracks of the conference
. The Council objective in participating in these forums is to identify
key areas of concerns from AHTCA's perspective after 2 years involvement
with Armenian high tech, to assess some well-known country success
& transformation models, and to communicate AHTCA's 7-Point Program
in Collaboration with UITE, IESC/Geek Corps, Armenian niversities,
WB-Enterprise Incubator Fund and other partner organizations. The
AHTCA delegation includes Berge Ayvazian of the Yankee Group, Razmik
Abnous of Documentum, Shant Hovnanian of SpeedUS, Ashot Hovanesian
of Synergy International Systems, and Alfred Eisaian of CreationPoint
Technologies.
Summit
of ICT Partner Organizations During Trip to Armenian Diaspora Conference
In addition to participating in the formal Diaspora conference program,
Council members are arriving early to meet with their partner organizations
working in the high tech sector. On Friday, May 24, AHTCA will host
a Summit of ICT Partner Organizations at the Viasphere Technopark.
During this meeting and workshop, the invited participants from 14
organizations will present their ICT-related programs and initiatives,
and learn to coordinate efforts to avoid inappropriate duplication
of efforts. This group will also prioritize initiatives and learn
to collaborate on common
projects. This by-invitation-only meeting currently includes representatives
of AHTCA, UITE, ARITA, IESC/Geek Corps, Enterprise Incubator Fund,
ADA, USAID, AmCham, ITF, Eurasia Foundation and other organizations
with a focus on the high tech sector in Armenia. AHTCA Leaders to
Attend AUA CIS Advisory Board Meeting May 25 Several members of the
Armenian High Tech Council of America will participate in a meeting
of the Advisory Board of the Computer and Information Science program
at the American University of Armenia on Saturday, May 25. As members
of the Advisory Board, the AHTCA leadership has had significant input
into the curriculum, course descriptions and priorities of the new
CIS program being initiated at AUA. This graduate-level program will
significantly increase the quality and quantity of highly train information
technology professionals and develop a new generation of managers
with a combination of technical, business, entrepreneurship and marketing
skills. After the Advisory Board meeting, AHTCA members will also
meet with the computer science department heads of Armenia's major
public and private colleges and universities.
Razmik
Abnous of Documentum to present Seminar at AUA CIS Program on May
27 During this visit, Razmik Abnous, Chief Architect and Technology
Vice President of Documentum and member of the AHTCA leadership, will
present a special seminar for the students and faculty of the AUA
CIS Program. Mr. Abnous will present a case study of Documentum's
strategies for success in developing and marketing its enterprise
content management software solutions that allow 1,400 of the largest
businesses in the world to intelligently create and manage all types
of content - documents, Web pages, XML files, and rich media - using
one common content platform and repository. This presentation will
concentrate on product and marketing development strategies that were
used at different stages of Documentum's growth, from the early 1990s
with handful of engineers to more than 1,000 employees and $200M in
revenues in 2001. Razmik has over 20 years experience in leading and
architecting software products, and is the co-author of two books
on object-orientation and intelligent offices published by John Wiley.
He received a B.S. and a Master of Engineering in applied math and
computer science from the University of Louisville.
