PanARMENIAN.Net, March 26, 2003: Treviso
and Chenson di Piava of Veneto region of Italy joined the Italian cities,
which had passed resolutions on recognition of the Armenian Genocide in
Ottoman Turkey. Besides the recognition and sharp condemnation of the
Armenian Genocide of the beginning of the last century, the issue is proposed
to condition Turkey's accession to the European Union. The Treviso resolution
emphasized the issue of making amends to those, who suffered from the
genocide, as well as protection of the rights of Armenians residing in
Turkey. The documents passed were sent to prime minister of Greece presiding
in the EU G. Papandreou, Italian president C. Champi, chairman of the
Hague International Court of Justice P. Palas, Turkish ambassador in Italy
N. Utkan.
