PanARMENIAN.Net, January 30, 2002: The
events of 1915 were noted in Great Britain for the first time on the Holocaust
victims memory day. The Armenian Genocide was mentioned in the course
of all official measures devoted to the Holocaust anniversary. The subject
of the Armenian Genocide was concerned in an informatory brochure, devoted
to the slaughter of Jews. The Committee on Recognition of the Armenian
Genocide considers inclusion of the events in 1915 into the program of
the measures devoted to the memory of Holocaust victims as the first step
of the British Government on the way to the official recognition of the
fact of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. Let us remind that last
year in spite of the efforts of the Armenia community of Britain the Armenian
Genocide was not mentioned in the program of the Holocaust memorial day.
The representatives of the country Government came out with a statement
at the time that the tragic events at the beginning of the last century
could not be qualified as genocide.
