| General Information | Gladzor was first mentioned
as a University in 1291. It was a famous mediaval Armenian educational centre
which existed till the 1340-s.Gladzor University was situated in the Monastery
of Gladzor in Vayots Dzor(archeaological excavations allow us to conclude
that the Monastery of Gladzor was the very Monastery of Tanadeh). The fame
of Gladzor University reaches its height in the years when Yesayi Nshetsy
was teaching there. It is referred to as “Mother of Wisdom”, “Capital
of Wisdom”,”Second Athens”. It was at Gladzor University
that Stepanes Orbely, Hovhannes Yerzenkatsy, Frik, the poet, got their education.
It was also notable for its school of miniature painting(Toros Mshetsy, Momik). It is impossible to overestimate the role of Gladzor University in the development of mediaval Armenian culture and science. In 1984 the 700th anniversary of Gladzor University was celebrated in Armenia. The present-day University, bearing the name of the famous educational centre, is striving to revive and continue the glorious educational-scentific traditions of its medieval predecessor. Gladzor University was established by the initiative of Zhora Danieli Jhangirian, Doctor of Law, Assistant-Professor. The University was licensed in 1991. In the twelve years of its existence the University has stood out with a high-level organization of the educational process and with its highly qualified graduates. As a result of its fruitful activity Gladzor University was accredited and granted state status according to Order 308, 25 July, 2001, of the Minister of Education and Science, RA. |

| Payment | The full University course
is meant for 5 years. The tuitionfee is AMD equivalent of $500. There is
a flexible system of discount. The University has a preparatory department for high-school pupils as well as for those who have already finished high school. |
