| General Information | "Urartu", one of
the first and the only professional university of practical psychology and
sociology, was opened under this motto in the Republic of Armenia in 1991. The earthquake of 1988 not only took the lives of many people but also interrupted the process of people’s normal, daily life. Horror, fear turned people into “invalids “, even people from disaster areas believed in their fear so much , that didn't feel any wish for further life. Our compatriots, refugees from Artsakh were also in a very difficult state of mind. Hard economic conditions led the Republic to a chaos and at those days a great necessity of expert psychologists has arisen. Gathering around himself the best psychologists and sociologists, rector of the Urartu University, Mr. Sedrakyan, has founded the scientific and training center in a short time. Among the university faculty there are academicians, doctor-professors, candidates, senior lecturers and many others. Today, the departments of psychology, natural sciences, social sciences, and foreign languages, together with the students carry out researches in the different fields of psychology and sociology. For the twelve years of University existence, numerous books, psychological tests, magazines, methodical proceedings, articles, programs, etc. were published under the authorship of university lecturers. |
