Armenians Help Armenians to Develop Tourism in the Regions of Armenia

Armenian businessmen and representatives of international organizations, mostly from Yerevan, will actively participate in implementing the training program called "HOW TOURISM FUNCTIONS" in Ijevan and Dilijan.

They will conduct seminars and lectures on different subjects, looking into the business opportunities.

This training program is a part of the "Community tourism development in the regions of Armenia" project, which was initiated by the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED) of Armenia, in cooperation with the International Executive Service Corps (IESC) funded by USAID.

The following organizations will perform trainings in the abovementioned two cities in June 2003: American University of Armenia, Armenian Tourism Development Agency, Armenia hotel, "Avarayr" Tour Company, "Cultural Heritage" NGO, "Dolmama" Restaurant, "Ham" Ltd., Media Support Internews NGO, Lori Local Traditional Museum, Peace Corps Armenia representation, "Printinfo" publishing company, "Salt Sack" souvenir shop, "Sharan" craft center.

Workshops will mainly refer to marketing and advertisement, preparation of promotional materials such as informational guidebooks, city maps, Bed and Breakfast brochures, and other subjects.

As an outcome of this program, advertisement and marketing plans for the cities will be developed, information brochures will be printed, and films on the cities will be produced with support and assistance of these companies.
