Gomidas Press Releases New Book On Armenian Genocide :Writings Include Official Documents to U.S. Officials

Los Angeles, CA - The Armenian Assembly of America is proud to announce the release of a book entitled, "United States Official Records on the Armenian Genocide 1915-1917. "

"I strongly believe that this book will be used to thwart the denial camp and their efforts," said Assembly Fellow Trustee Zaven Akian, a supporter of the project.

The book, officially released on August 29 at the Akian home, is a compilation of documents and materials that informed U.S. officials including, President Woodrow Wilson, Secretaries of State William Jennings Bryan and Robert Lansing, about the Armenian Genocide. The documents included in the book illustrate the unsuccessful attempts of various U.S. Consuls and the American Ambassador in Constantinople to receive U.S. assistance in stopping the mass killings of Armenians.

Edited by Ara Safarian and published by the Gomidas Institute of London, the book includes a preface by Armenian Congressional Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Joe Knollenberg (R-MI).

"I commend Ara Safarian for the great job he has done to compile all these documents in one volume," said Akian. "Armenian organizations, as well as many government officials on all levels, are supporting 'United
States Official Records on the Armenian Genocide 1915-1917.' It is an important educational and lobbying tool. The work will undoubtedly contribute to a greater awareness of the Armenian Genocide."

Akian added that the publication is a substantial resource for students, journalists and others working to reaffirm the U.S. record on the Armenian Genocide.

"This book is another great step in the ultimate goal of educating the United States government and people about this tragic event of not only Armenian history, but world history," said Peter Abajian, Deputy
Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly of America. "I commend the vision of this project and wish it continued success."

The Armenian Assembly of America is the largest Washington-based nationwide organization promoting public understanding and awareness of Armenian issues. It is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt membership organization.
