Sacramento, April 28, 2005: Senator Chuck Poochigian's (R-Fresno) SB 424, which permanently designates April 24 as "Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide," was signed into law today by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. SB 424's adoption is particularly significant this year since 2005 is the 90th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide. Poochigian's measure also designates the period commencing the Sunday before April 24 and concluding the following Sunday as the "Days of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide."
