Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan agree on defense cooperation
UKRINFORM Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Yezhel and his Armenian counterpart Seyran Ohanyan have signed the Plan of Bilateral Defense Cooperation 2011 as part of the 59th Meeting of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers in Crimea, south of Ukraine. The same document was signed with Azerbaijan's Defense Minister, Colonel-General Safar Abiev, the Defense Ministry press office reported on Wednesday.
During bilateral meetings the sides discussed ways to expand and enhance defense cooperation, particularly in the field of military education and science on the exchange students and cadets of higher military educational institutions, the application of modern technologies in the educational process.
The defense ministers also focused on the possibility of exchanging experience in peacekeeping operations among members of the CIS armed forces, in which Ukraine has great experience.
Apart from this, the parties dwelt on the repair, renovation and modernization of Soviet armament and military equipment, which are in service in the CIS countries, at the repair facilities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the enterprises of Ukraine's military-industrial complex.
