42237NewsAm Today, on December 18, the H. Res. 252, the Armenian Genocide resolution has not been placed on U.S. Congress’ agenda.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi is taking measures to put the resolution № 252 on the agenda before the House adjourns on December 21.

Earlier today, Majority Leader Hoyer announced that the House is set to adjourn for the week on Friday evening, returning on Tuesday, December 21st to complete the legislative business for the 111th Congress. This may be a good occasion of the genocide resolution to be put on the Congress’ agenda.

The U.S. House of Representatives may vote on the Armenian Genocide in the next 48 hours. American Commission Hay Dat calls to call the appropriate representatives of Congress and demand that they vote for the adoption of resolution number 252, which condemns the Armenian Genocide.

As NEWS.am reported previously, the reports that U.S. House of Representatives will put the H. Res. 252, the Armenian Genocide resolution, to the vote caused a stir at Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Turkish Ambassador to U.S. Namik Tan was the first to respond to the initiative, calling on the Armenian society to come to common sense.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and asked U.S. administration to hinder the discussion of the resolution, Hurriyet daily reports.

During the conversation, Clinton said Obama administration’s stance on the issue remains unchanged and all necessary measures will be taken not to place the resolution on the U.S. Congress’ agenda.

On March 4, 2010 the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee approved HR 252 by 23 votes to 22.
