The Armenian Genocide in Georgian periodicals of 1914-18
ArmRadio The Georgian press was mostly objective in covering the Armenian Genocide of 1914-18, say a group of Georgian young people, who studied the Georgian archives for about a year and published the book titled “The Armenian Genocide in Georgian periodicals of 1914-18.”
Georgian archives are rich in materials on the Armenian Genocide. However, the periodicals kept in Georgian archives have not yet been investigated.
The book covers the period from the beginning of 1914 to mid-1918. It presents in the chronological order the key data from analytical and other articles in the Georgian press.
Member of Georgia’s “Armenian Student Union” organization Edward Sahakyan says: “In general the Georgian press presented information about the Armenian Genocide rather objectively. However, some articles were obviously financed by the Turkish side.”
