Armenian Soldier Slit His Wrists Because his Mother is a Jehovah’s Witness?

2_0_armenianEpress.am --  On Aug. 29, Artur Grigoryan, 19, who had been serving in a military unit in Ararat marz (province) for six months, citing family issues, asked for permission to leave the base for a few hours; however, he did not return that day.

As reported by the newspaper Zhoghovurd (“people”), someone saw Artur Grigoryan by accident the following day in Yerevan’s Arabkir administrative district, in an area known as “the Molokans’ yard,” with his wrists slit.

According to the paper, the young man had slit his wrists because his mother is a Jehovah’s Witness.

Head of the defense ministry’s military police division Aram Ter-Sahakyan told the paper that an investigation was launched and material was prepared which will be sent to the military prosecutor’s office. Ter-Sahakyan said there are suspicions that Grigoryan’s mother was a Jehovah’s Witness.

Meanwhile, at the Armenia medical center, Grigoryan is slowly returning to consciousness, writes Zhoghovurd.

Ohh those scary JW coming to your door dressed in a suit and tie...coming to take your sons and daughters and rape them like its 1945 in Germany and the Soviets take what they want.....or causing them to slit their wrists. You Armenians sure are scared of those JW's but alas history will and has shown that the Catholics are far worse than any religion at killing people (SEE CRUSADES) Lets not even talk about what muslims have done throughout history!

Armenians should look deep into religious profiling people considering the history we had in the not to distant past with the Amenian Genocide. Would we return to those times! Those who dont know their history are bound to repeat it!

I have watched this American made 130 year old religion disrupt peoples lives. Everything looks great at first but later the real Truth begins to show. That of domination from a few old men from headquarters and having your family friends and associates being held hostage if they ever dare challenge the leadership.
Truely this is a frightening high control group.

Lying to unbelievers a Jehovah's Witnesses protocol known as 'theocratic warfare' is routine same as Moonie cult practice of 'heavenly deception'.

Remember-The Jehovah's Witnesses preach the blasphemous lie that Jesus had his second coming October 1914 and made the Watchtower leaders the rulers.
If they deny this fundamental they are lying more

Individuals should not be blamed for their actions its the group they belong to that should be....... It is why I now think all Armenians are [censored]s for persecuting the JW's! (I love how these posters that hate JW's post what individuals with free will do and somehow that is supposed to be proof of the organizations faults) Please these readers are more intelligent than that right? Funny how every crime done in Armenia had the religion or group that person belongs to.. Ohh but because we Armenians hate JW's lets go ahead and say "He was a JW" PLSSSSSSSSSSSSS S!

19 reasons apostate Jehovah’s Witnesses will never be reformed

1. Teaching that true Christianity is an organization instead of a way of life
2. Claiming salvation is dependent upon belonging to the JW denomination
3. Claiming that the organization speaks for and is controlled by Jehovah, thereby equating the organization with God himself

4. Centralizing authority in an organization instead of letting Christ be the head of each Christian
5. Claiming that the “faithful and discreet slave” is the “anointed class” rather than each individual Christian who shows himself or herself to be responsible and obedient to Christ
6. Teaching that the early Christians were led by a governing body

7. Teaching that Jesus appointed the “anointed remnant” as his true church in 1919
8. Viewing the so-called “anointed” class (actually, the governing body) as God’s channel and prophet
9. Placing WT literature above the Bible

10. Frequently taking Bible texts out of context in order to build support for the organization’s man-made teachings and procedures
11. Teaching that Jesus returned in 1914 and is “invisibly present” since then
12. Teaching that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 BCE when no historical records confirm this and the actual date is believed by nearly all historians to be 587 BCE

13. Falsifying the fact that Charles Russell predicted for 1914 the end of the world, not Christ’s return

14. Lying about a so-called “increase” in earthquakes, warfare, famines, persecution, etc., since 1914

15. Contradictorily condemning military organizations and frowning upon JWs who choose alternative service in lieu of military service while the headquarters organization at the same time owns stock in a military product organization (REGI)

16. Taking a conflicting stand with regard to the United Nations, claiming that it is the “wild beast” of Revelation that leads all nations in a fight against God and Christ at Armageddon, but signing on as an NGO member and publishing articles that present the UN in a favorable light
17. Teaching that it’s wrong to celebrate birthdays and all holidays
18. Teaching that Abraham and the faithful men and women of old are not among the holy ones who will rule with Christ in his Kingdom
19. Interpreting Jewish restoration prophecies as fulfilled in “the anointed remnant”
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote

-19 # 2011-09-02 12:07
20. Teaching that the Scriptures are directly addressed only to “the remnant of anointed ones”
21. Teaching that only the “anointed” must be born again
22. Teaching that the “great crowd” are not begotten or anointed by the Holy Spirit

23. Teaching that the “great crowd” are God’s grandchildren and not his sons and daughters
24. Teaching that the “great crowd” are not members of the bride of Christ
25. Teaching that Jesus is not the mediator between God and the “great crowd” of Revelation chapter 7

26. Teaching that the resurrection of the “anointed” precedes the resurrection of the “other sheep” and that it has already begun
27. Teaching that only “anointed” JWs will receive immortality in the resurrection
28. Inviting only the “anointed” to partake at the memorial
29. Claiming that spiritual food comes from the “anointed” class whereas nearly all the writers of WT publications are members of the “other sheep” class

30. Creating a climate of fear by authoritarianis m
31. Controlling what individual JWs may read of Bible-related publications that are not produced by the WT Society
32. Arrogantly pretending that the JW organization maintains higher standards than any other religion and proclaiming publicly that all other churches are members of Babylon the Great

33. Forbidding attendance and participation at other churches
34. Class distinctions such as “governing body,” “anointed remnant” and “great crowd of other sheep”
35. Class distinctions such as publishers, auxiliary pioneers, regular pioneers, special pioneers, circuit overseers, district overseers, Bethelites, Governing Body, etc.

36. Prohibiting women from serving in any meaningful role in the congregation while expecting them to do the bulk of the work in “field service”
37. Constantly prodding the membership by means of literature, meetings and conventions to do ever more and more in the service of the organization, promoting an atmosphere where many feel their best is never good enough

-19 # 2011-09-02 12:08
38. Setting dates for Armageddon and thereby urging the membership to abandon normal living, this often resulting in the ruination of health and family life, as well as creating employment and financial hardships
39. Teachings that lead the members to believe righteousness and salvation can be earned by devoted and loyal support of the organization’s slavish programs
40. Keeping meeting attendance and field service records as a gauge of an individual’s spirituality
41. Organizationall y requiring no blood transfusions instead of letting it be a matter of conscience, thereby cruelly informing all members that they will be shunned by the organization if they accept a transfusion that might restore health following a life-threatening accident or illness

42. Allowing their own infants and children to die instead of allowing doctors to give them necessary blood transfusions
43. Teaching that the “congregation” of Matthew 18:17 is the body of elders
44. Holding heresy trials and disciplinary hearings in secrecy from the rest of the congregation
45. Withholding information that would be helpful to persons who have been accused of wrongdoing

46. Conducting heresy trials of members who have doubts or who think differently upon the Scriptures
47. Defining apostasy as against the organization instead of against God
48. Being quick to disfellowship instead of making efforts to restore persons who have done something wrong

49. Unnecessarily and abusively shunning members even for minor infractions such as smoking or not complying with the whimsical directives of elders, thereby causing personal and family turmoil that often results in immense guilt, shame, fear, depression, bitterness, hatred, murder and suicide
50. Prohibiting fellowship with disassociated persons who show no inclination toward causing dissension

51. Showing favoritism by advising innocent victims to “leave it to Jehovah” instead of the elders taking decisive action to deal with some members who have been accused of harmful wrongdoing.
52. Ignoring or minimizing clear evidence of child molestation and other abuses simply because only one witness is available to testify against the member accused of such serious wrongdoing
53. Covering over and hiding damaging facts about the JW organization

54. In many cases, neglecting the care of their own sick and elderly members who no longer have the strength and energy to attend all the meetings and to be regular in “field service” as they did for most of their lives
55. Blatantly lying to the public by declaring to news media that members may leave the organization at any time, of their own free will and without any repercussions from the organization

JW myths are perpetuated because people with authority keep repeating them without thinking through exactly what the evidence is that holds them up. I hope the Armenian Government and press are smarter than that and consider the evidence and then allow people to draw their own conclusions.

there was a tragedy in an Armenian family that is all that matters! On a side note why aren't the JW talking about the religious freedoms in any other post soviet country where they are persecuted, Armenia at least has laws where they can register and yes may be there are some uneducated racists out there but at the end of the day it is not a widespread racism and xenophobia.

all scare tactics. I encourage every curious armenian to investigate this religion, to study the bible and compare what it teaches with the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses.

if you are looking for the truth,. i am confident that you will surely find it. A good heart these days is hard to find,.. however Jehovah himself makes sure that every single goodhearted Armenian will find him.

And no human force, public opinion or government will ever be able to prevent that from happening.

While I agree that this man's suicide attempt should not be viewed as a taint on the organization of JWs (rational people don't commit suicide) I do think that it should show how strongly a person can feel about their parent(s) joining a cult.

For those JWs who do not believe they are in a cult, I would invite you to look up the signs of a cult and cult-like behavior. I was a JW for almost two decades and have since become an apostate, primarily because of the behavior of the JWs today. (especially the youth) Like all fundamentalist, science-hating religions, JWs are immune to logic and reason, and are willfully ignorant of the detrimental effects their mindset has on the rank and file JW.

The cult of JWs are steeped in the occult, believing the world is controlled by the devil. They advocate the belief that items obtained second-hand (garage sales, etc.) can be possessed, or 'demonized' by spirits and can cause paranormal activity to be brought into their homes. They also believe they have special protection from evil by using the power word 'Jehovah', and are little better than voodoo practitioners, going through their houses muttering and hurling suspected objects into the yard to be burned.

The JWs attract a severe amount of mentally ill people, preying upon those who suffer from schizophrenia, have physical deformities and are generally hopeless people. They have always insisted that members gain approval for their mate selections within the congregation or larger organization, compounding the mental problems through in-breeding.

JWs are a credulous lot, often visiting prisons and studying with those who society has rejected. They often advocate for the early release of prisoners, and have successfully obtained parole for violent inmates that would otherwise rot in jail. They have an unusually strong desire to believe in the transformative power of their faith upon those individuals, being almost completely incapable of understanding when they are being taken advantage of. Gullible fools that help place sexual predators back on the streets.

The most disturbing aspect of this gullibility is their insistence on the biblical basis for their rules as correct. The organization is in a serious court case right now in Australia for refusing to allow their members to undergo background checks because they work closely with children. Ask yourself what the Watchtower would stand to lose from letting it's members have such background checks, and you may decide, as I did, that they would be exposed as the den of pedophiles and sexual perverts they are. The average JW is a kind, loving person who has been kept in the dark about the wolves in their midst. Their Elders are just like the cartoon sheepdog, letting their hair grow over their eyes and letting the coyote in amongst the gullible flock.

Search for "Steven Unthank" for information on the Australian lawsuit.

I am a Canadian by birth and Armenian on my mom's side. I am very proud of my Armenian heritage, however this vendetta people have against Jehovah's witnesses is just plain ignorant.
I am also a Jehovah's witness and proud of our neutrality to politics and war.
Armenians were the first nation to convert to Christianity and should be proud of that, do you think Christ would be throwing hand grenades and hating his fellow man?
If you do then maybe you should read the bible again.

Interesting and tragic at the same time. Mentally healthy people do not attempt suicide. Rational people do not blame others for the action of another. When the masses of people went all in with Hitler, the Jehovah's Witnesses as a whole group did not blindly follow him into his demonic course. There we other individuals who also had like courage and conviction, but no other group. The rest were cowards or easily sucked in to the propaganda machine.
The same has happened time after time in country after country, but people are still willing to chase the lies of the rich and the powerful to whatever ends that those powerful people want. So is it so terrible that Jehovah's people want to live in peace and work hard and pay their fair share of taxes without fighting against the governments they live under? Or is it so bad that they teach their children to be polite, not smoke and do drugs.
The fact that they take a stand is what irritates the masses. yet they also take a stand. Jehovah's Witnesses know that their position will not be popular, just as the stand Jesus himself made was not popular. There are many many good people in Armenia. And some who all too willfully do whatever their peers think they should do instead of thinking for themselves.
