/Reporter.am/ Author and lecturer Michael Parenti will offer the keynote address, "Capitalism's Self-Inflicted Apocalypse," at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 18, at a conference titled "Overcoming the Capitalist Crisis," part of the "Armenians and Progressive Politics" series organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. The conference will take place at Glendale Community College and will continue through Saturday, September 19.
Levon Chorbajian, a professor of sociology at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, will offer a critique of neo-liberalism, while Khachik Derghougassian, a professor of politics at the University of San Andres, Argentina, will discuss the Latin American experience in looking for "alternative solutions."
Putting a human face on the problems that will be discussed, attorney and photographer Sara Anjargolian will offer a photographic presentation on poverty in Armenia.
Gar Alperovitz of the University of Maryland will present the case he makes in America beyond Capitalism, his most recent book.
