Possible Changes and Developments in Upcoming Republican Party of Armenia Convention
/Tert.am/ Republican Party of Armenia parliamentary faction leader Galust Sahakyan considers it natural, the interest that has come about toward his party’s November 28 convention. During a press conference today, Sahakyan explained that the interest toward his party is because the Republican Party of Armenia is the country’s largest political force.Asked by Tert.am whether planned during the convention is a change in the party’s movers and shakers, Sahakyan responded by saying that the possibility of changes within the party is not a “sensational” matter for them. The MP stated that today, the party has 12 executive board members, and they will be proposing to the party’s chair, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, to also enlist Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan (who recently became a member of the Republican Party of Armenia) and Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan to the executive board.
As for a change in the party’s key players, Sahakyan didn’t exclude the possibility, noting that the party leader nominates deputy chair candidates as well.
Sahakyan informed the press that, at the Republican Party of Armenia convention, the party will present solutions and assessments on a number of issues, as well as re-establishing Armenia’s position on the Armenian Genocide, Nagorno-Karabakh and the process of establishing Armenia-Turkey relations; according to Sahakyan, on these issues, Armenia’s position remains unchanged.
