Yerevan School No 136

In 1998 November 27, the school # 136 in Qanaqer-Zeytun district was fire-damaged.
The school principal’s Greta Tunyan’s frustration was gradually increasing while seeking for financial help or human generosity. There have been found some…
  • Veteran educators donated 20 000 drams out of their small budget
  • The Head of Church Avetaranakan, Rene Levonyan supported the school with computer equipment.
  • The popular “TV Lotto” program donated their one-day profit to the school

In her TV interview Greta Tunyan appealed to the world kind-minded and generous people to come forward to help the school.
Levon Aharonyan’s wife Bella, who asked her husband, a well-known Armenian benefactor from Iran to help the school under any circumstances, echoed Greta Tunyan’s request. An agreement was signed between the City Hall of the Yerevan, Mayor Mr. Albert Bazeyan and Mr. Aharonian, according to which all the expenses of the renovation and the furnishing should be covered by Mr. Aharonian.
Considering the plea, in a three-year period, the school was revitalized and now it can be considered the most beautiful, well-furnished and technically equipped school in Yerevan.
Consequently the school acquired its prior sparkle and it is ready to take in the new generations of students, in the meantime maintaining its old and good traditions.

The school was reopened on September 4, 2001 after reconstructions works.
Now the pupils can continue their studies in newly renovated classrooms.
