Weatherization

Since October 1994, the ARS has "weatherized" 35 health and educational institutions in the earthquake region of Armenia as part of the USAID energy sector reform strategy for Armenia. The structural refurbishment of windows and doors enabled these institutions to provide warm, healthy environments for patients, school children and staff. The ARS Weatherization projects succeeded in achieving the following results: reducing energy consumption by as much as 25-30% in some buildings, increasing interior temperatures by 3°to 8° Celsius on average, and creating jobs for over 150 local men and women.
