ACYOA Armenia Service Program: Eastern
Diocese
The ACYOA Armenia Service Program (ASP) provides participants,
young adults ages 18 – 28, with the unique opportunity
to gain first hand experience of the Armenian culture and
people while serving as mentors and role models for children
in need. For two weeks, ASP participants act as counselors
at Camp Siranoosh in Yeghegnazdor, about three hours southeast
of Yerevan. The camp, sponsored by the Diocese of Siunik and
Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR), is a summer haven for children,
ages 7- 14, who have lost family members in the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict.
At camp, participants work with the local Armenian staff
implementing educational, religious and recreational programs.
On weekends, the group travels to nearby churches, monasteries
and cultural sites. After a two-week stay at the camp, the
group lodges in Yerevan and continues to tour the region.
